Overview
Description: Nurses who work in an outpatient surgical setting often care for patients who have been impacted by social determinants of health (SDOH). In this course, we will explore the ways in which nurses can assess their patients and identify social determinants of health. We will discover some patient impacts related to SDOH through a case study. We will discuss strategies for patient care planning that incorporates SDOH considerations.

Participants will be able to
- Describe Social Determinants of Health
- Describe nursing assessment linked to Social Determinants of Health
- List at least three resources available for patients impacted by Social Determinants of Health
